He has been involved in risk management, and money market trading activities. In 2000, he assumed the position of fund manager, responsible for managing clients’ money market portfolios. Saleem was appointed as Head of Cash Management at Taquanta Asset Managers on the incorporation of NIB Treasury cash management in 2003.

He then joined District Securities Bank where he was later appointed a Bank Director, before leaving to establish Prescient Investment Management with Herman Steyn.

Before joining Prescient, Eldria was responsible for specialist portfolios, including equity, bond, income, property and cash portfolios and was a director of Investment Solutions Unit Trust Limited.

Ian Anderson

Ian joined Grindrod Asset Management as Chief Investment Officer in September 2009. Prior to that, he ran his own consultancy where his clients included Marriot Asset Management, Fortress Asset Managers (part of the Resilient group of companies) and the Property Loan Stock Association of South Africa. Ian was the Investment Director at Marriot Asset Management from 2002 to 2007, having joined the firm as an Investment Analyst in 1996. Ian has been involved in the management of specialist listed property portfolios for the past 15 years.

Herman Steyn

Herman has been involved in the investment management industry since 1985, having held senior management positions in several established asset management companies. He began his investment management career when awarded a bursary from Old Mutual and after a period at Old Mutual, he co-founded an asset management company.

In 1993 Herman started the first index tracker fund, the Composite Unit Trust, in South Africa. He later sold the unit trust management company to Investec, joining Investec Asset Management in 1995 where he established Investec Asset Management's international fund management capability in Dublin. He was also responsible for the quantitative fund management that included local and international index funds, bonds, derivatives and asset allocation.

In 1998 Herman and Guy Toms founded Prescient Investment Management.

Piet Viljoen

Piet  started out as a lecturer at the University of Pretoria, and subsequently joined the Reserve Bank as an economic analyst. He joined Allan Gray Investment Counsel in 1991 as a portfolio manager and moved on to Investec Asset Management in 1995. Piet is the founder and executive chairman of RE•CM and has over 20 years investment experience.

Omri is an accomplished fund manager and left the position of Chief Investment Officer at Sanlam Investment Management to join Abax Investments.

Prior to working at Sanlam, Omri cut his teeth as an investment analyst at Old Mutual Investment Group (SA) from 1998 to 2003.

He completed his accounting articles with Coopers and Lybrand in 1998.

Walter founded Aylett & Company in 2005. This followed a period at Coronation Fund Managers for whom he had worked for seven years - first as Head of Research and then as Portfolio Manager. He managed several of their key Pension Funds and the Optimum Growth Fund. Walter successfully managed this worldwide flexible fund from its inception. Prior to that Walter had been at Syfrets Managed Assets for four years where he had the privilege of jointly managing the highly rated Prime Select Fund with well respected Tim Allsop.

Tim is the primary founding member of Abax Investments (previously Polaris Capital). He has had a career in the South African equity market that spans nearly 20 years from accounting articles, to investment research at stockbrokers Simpson McKie (HSBC today), to fund management at Syfrets Managed Assets and African Harvest Fund Managers. He has successfully managed the FTNIB Prime Select, the African Harvest Rainmaker and the combined entities now known as the Nedgroup Investments Rainmaker Fund.

Neil joined OMIGSA (previously OMAM) in June 2004 as a Senior Portfolio Manager and Small Cap Sector Head for institutional and retail funds. For the past 13 years, he has been an institutional Analyst and Fund Manager, managing both pension funds and unit trusts, but primarily focusing on the mid and small cap sectors of the JSE.

Richard Gosnell

Richard is Chief Investment Officer of the Quants business unit at Taquanta Asset Managers. He is accountable for the management of all quantitative portfolios, research of quantitative techniques, and product development. Richard was previously at NIB Quants where he was a senior portfolio manager. He gained his original investment experience in active judgemental portfolio management and research with NIB Asset Management (NIBAM), where he started in June 1996. Richard trained as a Chemical Engineer and started his working life at AECI where he was a Senior Process Engineer. He is also a CFA Charter holder and is a FAIS authorised representative.

Anthony is a founding member of Abax Investments (previously Polaris Capital). Prior to this he worked as an investment manager at African Harvest from February 1998 to June 2003. Anthony was recruited to help start African Harvest Fund Managers in early 1998. As one of the original group of four people, he played a significant role in building the company to its current successful position reflected in the value for which it was acquired by Cadiz Holdings in 2006. He was further responsible for all industrial research as well as the management of the industrial portion of the segregated portfolios in the Growth team at African Harvest. Prior to African Harvest, he worked at Syfrets from 1992 to 1998 in roles varying from private client portfolio management to institutional fund manager and research analyst.
